Our Privacy Commitment to Children & Families

Information from Adults:

• Email Addresses & Optional Name: We collect email addresses and optionally a name when adults contact us directly or choose to provide them when making a donation via Square. This information is used only to respond to inquiries or to send donation receipts. We do not use this information for marketing or share it with third parties.

Independent Usage Analytics:

We operate our own independent analytics system (no third-party services like Google Analytics). We collect:

• Online visitor counts
• General device category, browser family, operating system, language, and time zone
• Pages opened, referring website, and time actively using the platform
• Returning visitor statistics
• Music and video playback, playback duration, books opened, reading time, and completion signals
• Devotional activity and app installation signals
• Country when supplied by a trusted hosting service; we do not request precise location

These records use a random browser identifier, transformed on the server into a pseudonymous identifier. They describe activity from a browser profile, without a child's name or account. New analytics records do not retain raw IP addresses or full browser identification strings. A short-lived hashed address is used to limit abusive requests.

When the app is offline, it can queue up to 300 usage events on the device for up to seven days and send them when the connection returns. The queue retains the time the activity occurred. Analytics collection respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser signals and can be disabled across the platform by its administrator.

Local Storage (Device-Only):

Our Progressive Web App (PWA) uses your browser's local storage to save preferences and activity data. The saved parental settings and parent dashboard records stay on your device. They include:

• Parental Settings: Daily time limits, bedtime schedule, allowed features (music, videos, Bible), banned keywords for video filtering, volume limits.
• Favorites: Videos marked as favorite.
• Bible Reading Progress: Last read story and page, books marked as read.
• Video Statistics: Count of video plays (used only for the parent dashboard).
• Usage Timers: Daily and lifetime usage, activity streaks.
• Devotional Progress: Completed days and streaks.

This local data is presented in the parent dashboard (accessible only after passing the parental gate) to help parents monitor their child's activity. Usage-control settings, favorites, and parent dashboard activity records are not uploaded. Notification subscription records are described separately below; pseudonymous media events are sent for the independent usage analytics described above.

Optional Parent-Enabled Notifications:

Notifications are off until a parent enables them in the gated parent dashboard. App-only notices appear while the app is in use. Background notifications also require your browser's permission and use its push delivery service, such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, or Mozilla.

When enabled, we store a random installation recipient ID, a protected device credential, general device/browser/operating-system categories, optional parent-provided device label and country, notification preferences, and recent app visibility/activity signals needed for audience selection. Background subscriptions also include a private delivery endpoint and encryption keys. Do not enter a child's name in the optional device label. We do not request GPS or precise location for notification targeting. These operational records are separate from usage analytics and can operate when analytics are disabled.

Parents can turn notifications off in the app at any time. This removes the server's background subscription keys and cancels queued notices for that installation; browser/OS site settings control the browser's own permission. Notification queue history is retained for up to 90 days, with cleanup performed by the scheduler. Provider acceptance does not establish that anyone received or read a notification.

Administrator Session Cookies:

• The administrator login uses a secure session cookie. Public usage analytics use a random browser identifier rather than a PHP visitor session cookie.

Email Addresses (Adults):

• We do not use emails for marketing or newsletters
• We do not share email addresses with third parties

Analytics Data:

• To understand how our site is used and improve user experience
• To monitor site performance and fix technical issues

Local Storage (Child Activity):

• To remember user preferences (favorites, volume) between visits
• To save parental controls and apply them locally (time limits, bedtime, feature toggles, video filtering)
• To track reading progress in the Bible section
• To display usage statistics in the parent dashboard (accessible only via parental gate)
• Saved parental settings and the parent dashboard records remain on the device; separate usage events are described above

We do NOT use collected information for:

• Advertising or marketing of any kind
• Creating named child profiles or advertising profiles
• Personalized recommendations based on browsing history
• Selling personal data or sharing it for advertising

Retention Periods:

• Active Analytics Database: Records older than 365 days are removed in bounded batches when the site receives activity or scheduled maintenance runs. Separate administrative backups are managed by the platform owner.
• Email Correspondence & Donation Information: Retained only as long as needed to address inquiries or for legal/financial record-keeping (typically up to 7 years for donation records)
• Local Storage: Stored on user's device until manually cleared via browser settings or until the browser data is cleared
• Session Cookies: Expire when browser is closed

Data Deletion Requests:

Users can request deletion of their data by contacting us at privacy@faithkidsmedia.com.

• For analytics deletion, contact us for help identifying the random browser identifier associated with your device. We cannot find pseudonymous records from a child's name.
• For email/donation deletion, provide the email address used
• We will confirm deletion within 7 business days
• Local storage can be cleared through your browser settings

Faith Kids Media is designed for children. Its public media experience does not require a personal account. The following practices explain how the platform handles children's use:

No Named Child Accounts

Children can enjoy content without entering a name, email address, or precise location. The platform uses the pseudonymous technical and engagement information described above to operate and improve the service.

• No registration or account creation
• No forms that children can submit
• No social features or messaging
• No public content uploads; media uploads are restricted to authenticated administrators
• Parental settings remain on the device; limited pseudonymous usage events support independent platform analytics

Parental Gate Protection

We implement a robust parental gate that prevents children from accessing restricted areas (parental controls, donation page, external links). The gate presents a series of math problems that are intentionally designed to be solvable by adults but difficult for children ages 2–12. Features include:

• Multiple difficulty levels with increasingly complex problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, algebra)
• Timeouts and attempt limits to prevent guessing
• Speech synthesis to read problems aloud for younger children (but still requires correct answer)
• Anti‑pattern detection to block automated or repetitive attempts
• All gate logic runs locally; no data is sent to our servers

Only after successfully solving the required number of problems can an adult access the parent dashboard, donation features, or external links.

Parental Rights & Controls

Parents have the right to:

• Review any information we might have about their child (note: we do not collect any)
• Request deletion of any such information
• Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
• Set and modify parental controls directly within the app (time limits, bedtime, feature access, video filtering) – all stored locally

Faith Kids Media includes a comprehensive set of parental controls that allow parents to tailor the app to their child's needs. All settings are stored locally on the device and can only be accessed after passing the parental gate. Key features include:

• Daily Time Limit: Set a maximum amount of time (in minutes) the child can use the app each day. Once the limit is reached, the app will block further access until the next day or until a parent resets it.
• Bedtime Restrictions: Define a time window (e.g., 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM) during which the app cannot be used.
• Feature Access Toggles: Independently enable or disable access to Music, Videos, and Bible sections.
• Video Filtering by Keywords: Parents can enter a comma-separated list of banned keywords; any video whose title contains a banned word will be blocked from playback.
• Maximum Volume Limit: Set a cap on the audio volume (applies to both music player and text-to-speech).
• Parent Dashboard: Displays statistics based on locally stored data, including today's usage, lifetime usage, last activity, streak days, videos watched, devotional progress, and Bible books read. This information is intended to help parents understand their child's engagement with the app.

Parent dashboard: Saved settings and the detailed local dashboard records stay on the device and are shown after the parental gate. Separate usage events, such as a media play or book opening, support the independent platform reports described above.

We implement appropriate security measures to protect the limited data we handle:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• Secure server infrastructure with firewalls
• Regular security updates and patches
• Limited access to data (only essential personnel)
• Regular security audits of our codebase
• Secure password policies for administrative access

Our Security Philosophy

We follow the principle of data minimization:

• We don't collect data we don't need
• We don't store data longer than necessary
• We use local storage instead of server storage when possible
• We anonymize data at the earliest opportunity

Browser Controls

You can control data storage through your browser:

• Clear Local Storage: Remove saved favorites, preferences, and all locally stored data via browser settings
• Disable Cookies: Browser settings can block cookies (may affect site functionality)
• Private Browsing: Use incognito/private mode to prevent local storage from persisting between sessions

Opt-Out of Analytics

To opt-out of our independent analytics:
